My husband and I loved our stay at The Ashley. We were looking for something a little cheaper than the options in downtown Charleston, but that still had the charm of a historic hotel and The Ashley delivered. Keep in mind it does take about 20-30 minutes to walk to King Street, but we enjoyed the walk and not having to deal with parking. It's a huge plus that parking is complimentary at The Ashley as most downtown hotels and inns make you valet or pay a daily parking fee. We took advantage of the complimentary bikes to ride down to the battery one morning, too. Our room was clean, cozy, and everything worked well. We also really appreciated the daily breakfast sandwiches, coffee, and snacks in the lobby. The area/neighborhood we stayed in was quiet and charming. We would definitely recommend this stay to anyone!

So cute and cozy! Def feels like historic Charleston. Only 12 min walk to all the shops and restaurants on King St.! We got confused about parking and called, the property manager immediately arrived to help us. He was extremely pleasant and offered us refreshments and snacks in the common area before showing us to our room. They also provide delicious coffee and bagels in the morning which is such a nice touch! Lots of snack and beverages as well. The room was very nice and clean. Thank you!!!-Amanda W

An amazing experience for the weekend! The service and communication were top tier, the location was perfect, the grounds were clean and accommodating. If you want to be close to downtown but not to close this is perfect. The area is very quiet and the guests were quiet and respectful. I can’t express how much I appreciate the staff and the service they provide but you’ll have to experience it yourself. The Ashley is 10 out of 10 and highly recommend anyone to stay!

One word - AMAZING!!! Found & booked this gem on AirBnB. My friend & I stayed here for a long weekend and we were so impressed. The interior is beautifully decorated, I believe the building is a newly-renovated historic building. We were in awe of the details and care that was put into our stay. I would recommend staying here to everyone. Our favorite parts: - Free grab & go breakfast EVERY day! They have free breakfast bagel sandwiches, coffee, tea, snacks, drinks, etc. This was so convenient in the morning & saved us a ton of money. - The porch!!! We sat out here every day, multiple times a day. It was so relaxing and the view is nice. - The decor. Seriously, the rooms and the common areas are gorgeous. Very Instagram worthy - if that matters to you. - The location. Everything we wanted to do was 10 minutes away by driving max. There's also a ton of restaurants and shops nearby within a short walking distance. Felt very safe the whole time as 2 female travelers! Cons (very minor stuff): - No elevator. Hauling our suitcases up the stairs was a little tricky! Keep this in mind when packing, lol. - Seemingly no staff on site? We assumed there would be a front desk but there wasn't. This only rose an issue when the fire alarm went off & we weren't sure what to do (there's an after-hours number to text, but we didn't hear back very promptly). - Slightly thin walls. We had a noisy neighbor the first night & the traffic outside is a little loud at times.

The Ashley was absolutely lovely! My room had ample space and included a sitting area where I was able to work during the day and comfortably unwind in the evening. The bed was perfect - a must for me, a poor sleeper - and the decor was exquisite. Water pressure in the shower was also spot on. The location was super convenient, safe, and perfectly situated for those coming to town as a tourist or a business traveler.

We had the most wonderful time! Our host was very responsive and informative! The place was super clean, comfortable bed and convenient parking area! Loved the parlor area that included breakfast, snacks and drinks! We also enjoyed sitting out on the beautiful southern style porch! Very safe area. We walked to King St for a day of shopping and dining. Will definitely be back!

We stayed at The Ashley Bed & Breakfast for our 1-year anniversary back in 2014, and it was the sweetest, most memorable trip ever. We got married on Halloween, so naturally we did a sailboat ghost tour - spooky, romantic, and so much fun. The B&B was charming, cozy, and felt like home in the best way. 10/10 would go back in a heartbeat. My only regret? Not stealing a mug… just kidding (kind of).

I stayed at the Ashley in the King-Speak-easy suite and it was everything described. The bed and linens were so soft and comfortable, the bathroom was clean with beautiful designs and the speak-easy room was adorable! An added bonus was the Nespresso machine in the room and Breakfast was included in the quaint parlor. If you want some Charleston Charm, the Ashley is the spot!
